Oh Hemorrhoids! They hurt. They itch. They make you uncomfortable. Your life can be dominated by them. Hemorrhoids can interfere with your enjoyment of life, as they can be an ever-present nuisance.

Hemorrhoids are caused from veins on your rectum and anus. These veins swell and become inflamed. This occurs for a number of reasons. Constipation is a leading cause. Constipation can cause you to strain when moving your bowels and this causes the veins to become swollen.

Hemorrhoids are present in four different types, first degree to fourth degree. First degree are the ones that are the least severe. Fourth indicates the most serious. Bleeding is a possibility with all types, but can become progressively worse at each level.

Home remedies can fix these much of the time, but surgery can sometimes be needed.

(1) Milligan-Morgan Procedure — This operation involves the excision of the three most serious hemorrhoid types. A trio of incisions in the shape of pears are left agape, separated by tissue and mucous. This hemorrhoid surgery is the most common.

2) Ferguson Technique – The incision is partially or totally closed in this surgery. This procedure results in elevated levels of post-op discomfort. Plus, it necessitates hospitalization for a 3-day period.

(3) PPH Procedure — This method treats the prolapsed hemorrhoidal tissue by removing the prolapsed anal mucosa membrane using a circular stapling device. There is less pain after this surgery than other surgeries.

4) The Harmonic Scalpel – This is a unique form of energy that, on contact, cuts and coagulates hemorrhoidal tissue, minimizing lateral thermal tissue damage. This is commonly used for hemorrhoids that bleed during surgery.

5) Laser Surgery – This method involves use of a laser beam to vaporize or excise the hemorrhoid. Lasers are more precise and accurate. With this procedure there is minimal post-op discomfort. They heal faster.

6) Atomizing Hemorrhoids – This method reduces hemorrhoids into a fine mist with surgery. This can be accomplished without causing a lot of bleeding. There are better results with this surgery.

If home remedies do not work for your hemorrhoids, these surgeries may be required. Your physician may recommend surgery for several reasons. He might advise you to have an operation in cases where hemorrhoids continue to develop, unrelieved. If you keep bleeding you might need surgery. Surgery is normally needed for prolapsed hemorrhoids. Surgery will be required if there are blood clots in the hemorrhoids.

Prior to surgery, doctors will attempt other methods. Placing rubber bands around the hemorrhoids is effective at times. In addition, administering injections is an option. In this procedure, an injection of drugs is administered into the hemorrhoidal tissue in an attempt to reduce the size.

Ignoring hemorrhoids is not an option. Do whatever treatment it takes. Don’t delay. Ensure that you are trying the best treatment for your condition.
