How To Make Your Emergency Response Plan

When it comes to an emergency response plan we can all take something from the Boy Scouts. That is their motto, “Be Prepared”. The emergency response plan is the perfect way to make sure that you can carry out the advice. Just make sure that you’re practicing it. It won’t be difficult and all you need is some paper, time to rehearse and time to plan.

Your surroundings are the most important aspect to understand. When you’re creating your emergency response plan you need to be aware not just of surroundings but the constraints of those surroundings too. As an example, if you’re someone that lives on the very top high rise floor you’ll obviously not want to jump outside the window if there’s a fire in your building, at least not to live through it. Planning to go down the fire escape though is a good thought. By gathering the understanding of the nature of the surroundings you’re able to gather information and make an effective emergency response plan. Write down all of the pros and cons in order to formulate the best plan.

You’ll need to put together a list of all the possibilities of the emergencies that can happen where you live. Things like medical and fire are like. Others will be flooding, natural disasters and even terrorism in today’s world. Also be sure to put things like robbery, home invasion and other such events. Also put things that can happen to your neighbors in the plan. If their house catches on fire it’s going to affect you too.

You need to be sure to keep it all simple in order to ensure it’s easy to remember. No extreme details as they’re going to harder to remember. When we first learned out to protect ourselves against fire is the prime example, stop and drop and roll. Those simple words are so easy to remember and carry out. Make sure that you and your family do plenty of emergency response plan drills whether it is fire, tornado, etc… The more you do the drills the more the brain commits them to member and your brain is going to then take over if an emergency strikes. It remembers what it’s taught and acts.

An emergency make it imperative to have rapid reaction times and be able to keep a cool head. Your emergency response plan will be so much easier if an emergency hits one it’s rehearsed. Make sure that you update when needed if there are any situations that change. Once you’ve updated your plan you should rehearse again with the changes. If you stay sharp, you’ll stay alive.
